Comstock to Hillsdale
Route 22 (107 miles)
This north/south state highway can be taken all the way up to the Canadian border, but some of the best riding is from Comstock to Hillsdale. Rolling hills and farmland occupies this relaxing scenic road and leads through the Berkshire Hills.
Pompey to Esperance
Route 20 (95 miles)
New York's longest surface road has a variety of elevations, repeatedly switching between two and four lanes. This east/west route climbs high ground and decends into valley ridges. Portions of this historic road is named Cherry Valley Turnpike, and expands among vast hillsides and farmland.
Malone to Otter Lake
Routes 30, 28 (138 miles)
The northern portion of Route 30 passes along lakes and mountain views and leads into the curvier portion near the Saranac Lakes. As an option, circle around this lake region looping around Route 186 and 3 for more great scenery of this Adirondack Mountain region. Look out for slow moving traffic near downtown Old Forge area.
Alder Creek to Sangerfield
Route 12 (42 miles)
This north/south road runs through the entire state of New York, but the section near Utica is a beauty. A classic two lane road that features vast farmlands and relaxing scenery. Best part? Minimal traffic!
Paul Smiths to Underwood
Routes 86, 73 (56 miles)
This route through the Adirondak Mountains connects from Route 30 and Route 9. East of famous Lake Placid, Route 73 is particularly impressive, riding along the Giant Mountain Wilderness region.
Hancock to Sparrow Bush
Route 97 (68 miles)
This route runs along the Upper Delaware Scenic River region and the scenic Hawks Nest. It features numerous curves along granite walls and exceptional valley views of the Delaware River.
