The pavement is in very good quality as of 2024. An optional LA motorcycle ride is to split off Route 22 and take Route 444 or 42 for a wider loop westward.

BOOM OR BUST SCENIC BYWAY

ROUTES: LA-2, LA-146

The Boom Or Bust Byway is a National Scenic Road that follows Highway 2 and is defined by the Louisiana/Texas border on the west and the loop around the town of Homer, to the east. Our motorcycle route continues southeast on LA-146, as this is the real gem. There's nice shady trees hanging over the road, with plenty of bends and hills. If you're looking for a nice, country road to meander around, check out this 54 mile route from Glenmora to Washington along Routes 167 and and 363. You'll ride along the southern edge of the Cocodrie Lake and down to Chicot State Park. There's flat, wide open land with lots of farms, along with some windy, wooded roads. From LA-167, opt for the more scenic route by turning south onto Highway 3042 to ride near the state park.
